Outings and Events

Days Out and Fundraising Events

MS Solihull organises outings for members. We generally restrict the distance to about one hour's travel from Solihull. The minibus is central to the outings, but where there is sufficient demand, other members transport those who can transfer from a wheelchair, using private cars. Some of the most popular locations are museums, but wildlife venues are another favourite.

Our outings are usually quite short, starting picking up at about 10.00 am and arriving at the destination by 12.00 noon. By 3.00 pm, most are ready to return home, which means we can drop of the last passengers before 5.00 pm.

Previous outings have included a visit to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Warwick Races, Bletchley Park and a “minced pie & mulled wine” cruise in Stratford-upon-Avon. We also provide an outing once a year to allow members to go Christmas Shopping in places that would normally be beyond their reach.

Fundraising Events

Our most recent Fundraising events have included a Black Tie Dinner, a Burns Night Super and a Coffee and Cake morning.

We have had promotional stands in venues to provide information about MS and held raffles which have raised funds.

Café Viola in Knowle, Solihull, holds an event for MS Solihull on the first Saturday of each month giving a % of their takings to the Society. Once again we hold a raffle and members give generously of their time, one has the skill of face painting so the children can join in too.

Watch our calendar for events through out the year and come along and support us.

We generally manage to negotiate several collections per year in support of the branch funds. The most popular collection venues are supermarkets, but others, such as Solihull town centre, are also used. Supermarket collections are organised in agreement with participating supermarkets.
